the imperial valley

Even though its kind of tough livin here sometimes, i still gotta love it! i mean, come on! its the Imperial Valley! :) i have so many memories here, so the valley is just a part of who i am.
(the captions to the pictures are under the pictures)
imperial avenue. :) EL CENTRO!!

Mt Signal, part of the Imperial Valley experience.
This captures some of the true essential components of the valley. Mt. Signal, farm land, an empty dirt lot with weeds, a canal, haystacks, a not so busy road, and the questionable air quality. All part of the experience :) love it!

more Mt. Signal, and a field. we got a lot of fields here.
a canal! these are an important element in our farming. the irrigation system is one of the key water sources for our farmers. However, i still feel that Dippy Duck should have taken a better tactic at keeping kids out of canals. i mean, the song "Dippy Duck says stay away, canals are not the place to play" and the phrase, "be cool. swim in a pool" were all great and important, but when the IID would come tell stories about what happened to real people who swam in canals, well that was just a little traumatizing. i still cant think about catfish and canals the same way again. uuhhh 'shiver'

however, Longfellow Whale's Tales were just hillarious HAHAHA his lessons about water safety were awesome. his little phrases, "be cool, follow the rules!" "Swim with a buddy!" (ya that one didnt rhyme...) "look before you leap!" "Dont just pack it, wear your lifejacket!" "Think so you dont sink!" "reach or throw, dont go!"

Another part of the valley: a field or a haystack is always burning somewhere. Billows of smoke from a distance coming from a field is just something you see often.

haystacks!!! They are everywhere!

more haystacks! like i said, they are everywhere! :) theres nothing quite like the smell of freshly cut hay. Those with allergies may not love it so much.

a field of alfalfa..or something. im not really sure, but its still really pretty when its green like this. and the sun is shining brightly over the field!

this is my favorite picture. the sunset over the field with a blue sky, and the random jet you see in the sky. the jet is just an added touch :) but isnt the sun radiant!?

Even though the valley can be hot and unbearable, it just goes to show, the Imperial Valley does have its beautiful side. :)

maybe next time i will post pictures of different places around el centro. that would be a fun experience. :)

Love this post!! It's funny how much you can still love a place you hate.
